From August 23 to 25, 2018, the first China International Intelligent Industry Expo was held in Chongqing. The Chongqing Intelligent Expo featured four themed areas—comprehensive exhibition, large enterprise exhibition, innovation exhibition, and special exhibition—along with a main summit on big data intelligence, gathering technological achievements of industrial innovation.
IOTRouter, a leading industrial IoT device manufacturer in China, participated in the expo, presenting its edge gateways, HMI devices, AI edge boxes, remote I/O modules, and IoT data middleware platforms. The products were demonstrated in applications for smart water management, smart agriculture, smart cities, and smart manufacturing.
It is reported that the Smart Expo was merged from the original Chongqing International Automobile Industry Exhibition and China International Cloud Computing Expo, and is co-sponsored by the Chongqing Municipal Government, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the China Association for Science and Technology.
The holding of the Chongqing Intelligent Expo is an important measure to accelerate the development of the smart industry in China. The Smart Expo became an important platform for exchanges and cooperation in the domestic and international smart industries, gathering various innovative elements such as capital and talent.
At the opening ceremony, Han Zheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, read a congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping and delivered a speech. Leaders from Singapore, the Philippines, Laos, Mongolia, and other countries also delivered speeches. The Chongqing Intelligent Expo attracted more than 500 units and companies, including Google, Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, Siemens, Alibaba, Tencent, Huawei, Foxconn, Inspur, and Unisoc.
Technologies such as 5G, cloud computing, and big data are driving IoT applications, including smart manufacturing, Internet of Vehicles, and industrial Internet, and are redefining enterprise value chains while creating new businesses, products, and markets. Demand for IoT applications is expanding into industry, manufacturing, consumption, transportation, smart homes, healthcare, and other sectors.
The Internet of Things is accelerating into a new stage of “cross-border integration, integrated innovation, and large-scale development,” deeply intertwined with industrialization, urbanization, informatization, and agricultural modernization. Considering the huge market prospects of IoT, more integrated industrial chains will emerge, eventually forming a large-scale ecological intelligent network. Compared with the Internet, IoT is dozens of times larger in industrial scale, attracting both giants and rapidly growing innovative companies that may become unicorns in the IoT era.
